Readers of my past articles may have noticed I have inserted links to cyber-security related guidelines from organizations such as the National Electrical Reliability Corporation Standards in order to present the audience with concrete steps they can take to better protect their critical networks.

Just this past week, the American Water Works Association has published a comprehensive series of guidelines which covers additional topics such as service level agreements on top of device handling, data recovery, and network security typically covered in other cyber-security related guidelines.

What is particularly helpful with this document is that the list of best practices and other relevant guidelines have been tabulated side by side (pages 23 to 30), allowing for professionals who may not necessarily have a core background in electronic infrastructure and protection to have an easier time interpreting and implementing their own security and resiliency programs.
